This book is great on so many levels. I was inspired by the author's bravery and openness to share her story with the world, and I loved how she tied it all to theory. It has been great for me to be reminded of the theories I studied so many years ago, and I have thought a lot, while listening, (bought the book on Audible) about my own childhood, youth, and young-motherhood, and how my experience tied in to those theories. This book would be great for students but is also great for anyone who might be interested in relating theory to their own experiences. Additionally, it is simply a great story of resilience, and the love of family.

I purchased this book due to personal interest however I recently attended a conference for early childhood trauma. The testimonies aligned so well with what I read in the book. This fall I plan to take a class related to the topic.

My friends and I literally used this book for our book club and some amazing conversations happened among us from each chapter of the book. What I loved about it is we were able to reflect on our own behaviors. I also love the stories in each chapter they were relatable to many of us. I have started reading the book over on my own.

I was in tears at the end of this book. Ms. Owen's resilience shines. Her courage to share her personal, raw, experiences, and heartfelt self were appreciated. This book puts into perspective struggles of real people in real circumstances. That lived experience is truly a blueprint for those in similar circumstances or for those looking from an outside prospective. This book will not stay on my shelf because it is meant to be shared. Hugs to the little girl in you Ms. Owen's and hugs to the awesome woman and educator you are. Godspeed on your and your families continued journey.
