About the Author

Charlietta D. Owens, MSW, LGSW, CTP, is a Licensed Graduate Social Worker and Certified Trauma Professional whose work blends lived experience with professional insight. She earned her Master of Social Work cum laude from the University of Minnesota–Duluth, where she also completed the Scholar Program with a focus on child welfare. She holds a Bachelor of Science summa cum laude in the area of Social Work from the University of Wisconsin–Superior and an Associate of Applied Science, Human Services degree from WITC, Wisconsin-Superior where she graduated with honors at the top of her class.

For more than a decade, Owens has worked with children and families navigating homelessness, addiction, mental health challenges, domestic violence, and abuse. She has also worked closely with sexually abused and exploited youth, including those who have been trafficked. Owens has worked with countless individuals and families facing traumatic experiences, which has shaped her deep commitment to trauma-informed practice and advocacy.
